Process improvement

Maintaining your process improvement efforts

The hardest part of process improvement is keeping the momentum going after the first win. Here are the ProcessModel resources, services, and support that help you sustain it.

A team sustaining its process improvement efforts over the long term

Sometimes the most useful message is the one that never quite reaches the people who need it most. After speaking with a number of our customers directly, we found that many of them did not know about all of the products and services that help them keep their process improvement efforts alive. Below are some of the questions we walked through with them. They may prove just as useful to you.

Is your ProcessModel support really free?

Yes. We are not going to build your model for free, but a ProcessModel engineer will help you troubleshoot error messages, explain features and functionality, point you to other free resources, and even talk through modeling approaches and concepts with you. We are committed to fast, genuinely helpful support. Across a recent year we averaged a 7 minute response time and a 12 minute resolution time. Try getting that level of commitment from any other software support team, free or paid.

Do model objects really build models faster?

There are ready-made model segments, called model objects, built into the software to help you build models faster, with fewer errors and greater functionality. These are click-to-insert objects that handle everything from arrivals to complex routing. They are organized by concept, with detailed instructions describing how each one works and the steps needed to use it. Instead of rebuilding the same logic by hand on every project, you drop in a tested object and move on.

Can a model building service actually make you money?

That is a big claim, so here is how it holds up. A modeling service helps you in two ways. First, it helps you finish a project faster, so you start realizing the savings sooner. Second, it helps you run more projects when you do not have the time or the people to get them done yourself. Together, that adds up to a greater return, achieved faster.

We have refined a remote modeling approach, so there is no expensive or wasted time spent on flights, hotels, or meals. If you would rather hand the model building off and focus on the decisions, talk to us about the modeling service.

Is training worth it before you start?

Some customers told us they did not feel confident going into a class and wanted some preparation first. Online courses help you get ready for Basics 1 and Basics 2 training so that the class itself is a success rather than a scramble. If you are not sure whether you are ready, a short online quiz helps you assess where you stand before you commit the time.

Keep the improvement going

Improvement is not a single event. It is a habit, and habits need support, shared tools, and a way to capture what you learn so the next project starts ahead of where the last one finished. One customer, Don Miller, put it well after putting better tracking in place:

Finally I have a way to hold all of the people accountable involved in the process improvement process. We don’t have to rehash the same information. Everything is recorded and I can find everything that has to do with my project.

That is the goal. Improve the velocity of your process improvement, stop relitigating decisions you already made, and keep every project moving forward.

We want you to be thrilled with our company, our products, and our services, and we would genuinely like to hear from you. If any of the above raised a question, or you simply want to compare modeling approaches, get in touch or take a closer look at what ProcessModel can do.

See your process clearly, then prove the fix

Build the model, run the simulation, find the constraint, and show the improvement before you change a thing.
